Accommodation for Spouse Visa

Post by ilrupdates » Sun Jan 26, 2014 2:35 pm

Hi Gurus and senior members,
soon I am going to sponsor my spouse for her entry clearance visa. I am presently living in a shared 4 bed flat which is above a shop. I have got two rooms on rent in this flat and rest two rooms are rented by two other people. all the tenants in this flat share the same bathroom and Spam room. The rent that I pay to the owner includes all utility bills plus council tax, so none of the utility bill is on my name.

1. My question is that is it mandatory that utility bills or the council tax bill should be on my name while I am sponsoring my wife to come to UK from her home country?

2. Will this accommodation be accepted by Visa issuing officer in which I have two private rooms but shared Spam and bathroom/toilet?

Thanks for your reply.

You need to ensure you have your tenancy agreement and a letter from the landlord confirming that you occupy the property, what you have mentioned above and his consent to your spouse living in the property also.

Thank you very much SoHopeful for reading and replying to my post.

it means if the landlord narrates in a letter that all the utility bills and council tax is included in rent will be suffice.?
and one thing more please, do I have to mention all the other people living in this property who are shared tenants?

You have to say how many occupants there are in the property for the decision to be made as to whether it's considered adequate for your wife to join you.
