T2G extension query

All,

Quick query, what is the earliest time one can apply for extension under Tier 2 before the visa expiry date? Is it 3 months or 1 month? Pls confirm. This will help me make my holiday plans for this year.

I'm planning for extension towards the end of this year. Visa expires in early Feb 2015. Accordingly will need to request my employer's immigration team to provide an unrestricted CoS.

you can apply any time with a valid CoS but the start date of your new leave will be when it is granted, not the expiry date of your current leave

thanks manci. One more query. My original CoS was issued with code 2132 IT, software professionals.

As per SoC list (version Oct 2013), 2132 can no longer be used. Instead any of the SoC codes 2135, 2136, 2139 closely matching to the job type should be used.

In my case, SoC 2135, 2136, 2139 only partially match to my roles & responsibilities.

1) Which job code should my employer now mention in new CoS for extension application?
2) Is RLMT needed again because of SoC changes between original leave grant & new extension application?

Just bit concerned now as I'll be going for extension in few months time with two dependents. Pls assist.

your employers are responsible for selecting the appropriate SOC code, the forum cannot help you there. It is the job description that is important and they should select the code that is the best match.

no if the SOC code change is just due to the re-classification but yes otherwise
