Want to switch from Tier 1(PSW) to tier 4(Student)

Post by ftk_dgpm » Wed Feb 05, 2014 11:09 am

HI,
1. I am currently on tier 1 (PSW) visa and want to switch into tier 4 student visa. I want through the UKBA policy and guadance where it is mentioned that you must show £1000 for living costs upto 2 months If you have an established presence studying in the UK and you must show £1000 for living costs upto 9 months If you don't have an established presence studying in the UK. Here i got confused because i have got established presence in the UK but not studying at the moment and it is asking established presence studying in the UK and i have got 2 dependants (1 adult + 1 child). So altogether how much amount and for how long duration I need to show the amount as the maintenance fund?

2. And if my wife want to switch into the student visa i think she needs to go back to the home country for the visa application and can I and my kid apply for the dependant visa from inside the UK after she will get her student visa because I don't want to go back to the student visa if possible. Thank you

You do not have established presence so you have to show the maintenance fund for you and your dependents for living cost up to nine months which will be around 19,800 plus any outstanding tuition fees for the first year.

Your can apply as a dependent if your wife applied for a Level 7 course with a public funded college or an Uni. You and your child have to show maintenance funds for living cost up to nine months. You can apply from inside UK when she will have received her visa and entered UK for her course as long as you are not breaching any other visa conditions.
