Expired annual COS allocation

Post by lakitha_f » Mon Feb 10, 2014 1:13 am

Hi I need some expert advise. The rules of renewing the COS was probably revealed in April 2011. My Sponsor's license was granted just before that time. Although the company received the annual renew reminders, they had ignored it assuming it is for further COS allocations and the initially granted COS for me will be valid for 3years. Now they say, since I am the only sponsored immigrant in the company, they cannot even login to the SMS system. Looks like UKBA has completely blocked access since they did not renew my COS allocation annually. My extenstion of Tier2 visa is due in May 2014 (after 3yrs). Do you think my company can now write to UKBA after 3yrs and request for a COS allocation.
A) Will they grant it?
B) Assuming they grant it, will it affect my extension as they will check into my history and find no records for the last 2yrs with the company.

Please advise. Greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

sponsor licences are valid for 4 years and as your sponsor's was granted in 2011 it is not yet due for renewal. The level 1 user in your organisation should be able to log into the SMS.

unrestricted CoS allocations are only valid for 1 year (April to April) and there is no need to request them if they are not required, as in your case. Not having CoS allocations does not invalidate the sponsor's licence.

If your leave needs to be extended in May 14 the sponsor should request an allocation for 2014/15. They can do it now through the SMS
