UK Visa for a GC Holder? Attn: Marco 72 or anyone

Marco:

This is a quick one. I have a friend who is a GC holder. Has been in the US for almost a decade (won the lottery) but never bothered to apply for a US passport. They want to visit us in the UK. Do they need a visa to visit?
They are commonwealth nationasl from West Africa.

Please let me know since I have not found any concrete info on the Britain in the US website.

If he is not a US citizen, then the green card will make no difference to his UK immigration status. Whether he needs a visa or not will depend on his country of nationality (I suspect he does).

He is not a US citizen yet. He is going to write the citizenship test and apply for his US passport but I guess that would take time and will miss his vacation. He is from Ghana.

I guess he would have to apply for a VV then.
