Applied for ILR, Employment issues

Post by ErrorFound » Fri Feb 07, 2014 2:17 pm

Hello everyone,

I applied for ILR in November 2013 and all my original documents including PSW visa and passport are with the HO.

Now here is the problem. I have been applying for job as I was made redundant in December 2013. My wife is here as my dependent (since August 2013) and is already in full time employment. She is earning 16,000 at the moment which is below the 18,600 threshold set by HO as she will applying for Spouse visa in August 2014. That means we have to be earning a total of 18,600 from February 2014 so we can prove our total income for 6 months.

Now I have been applying for jobs since January this year and have been to numerous interviews, tests and second interviews only to be turned away either because I D'ONT have original visa and passport or my current visa is less than 1 year. I only have certified true copies as HO have the originals.

I have even applied for odd jobs. Still no luck..

As you can imagine this is very frustrating for me and my wife.

Is there anyone else in the same situation or went through the same situation where the employer will not accept certified copies of the visa and passport? I have explained each time that I am expecting the ILR visa to arrive by end of March 2014 and I have proof that the documents are with HO.

Further more, I don't have enough savings at the moment and therefore its highly unlikely I will have that option. According my calculations I will need 25,000 and that too for six months.

If there is anyone who experienced a similar situation please do help.

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't provide any employment details for my ILR application. I did however managed to find another job in my field. But now I'm facing another dilemma.

Apparently my wife's visa (PSW dependent) will become invalid as soon as I get my ILR approved. Her visa expires in August 2014 which will allow us to prove our income for 6 months which is well over the 18600 threshold. If her status is revoked once I receive my ILR then we are in trouble again. (This information is based on http://www.immigrationboards.com/indefi ... ml#p999127)

Confusing stuff tbh. I'm trying to find more information.

Amber_, sushdmehta and other Guru's, your input greatly appreciated.

Thanks
