meeting financial requirement

Post by Kwame O » Wed Feb 12, 2014 5:52 pm

My wife works as a non-salaried worker. The pay varies depending on the hours or over time that she works.( between 990 and 1400 a month). She recently graduated from law school and so has been working with the same employer for the past 3 months.

Her mom bought a house in her name and my wife's name (shared ownership). They rented the apartment out in August 2013. The tenant pays a rent of 850 a month. However, the tenant pays the full amount into my wife's account every month. My wife does not give any part of the money to the mother. She only use the rent paid by the tenant to pay the mortgage on the property.

Pursuant to the UKBA rule for rental income, would the rental income be split since it is a shared ownership. Or would UKBA count the entire 850 towards my wife's income.

How do you think we can meet the financial requirement? Thank you.
