Immigration from Russia

Post by SimonPatrick92 » Fri Feb 14, 2014 7:40 am

Hi i'm looking for immigration advise, my girlfriend is a Russian citizen she is looking to move to the UK next year after she graduates university,
I have read that it is very difficult for non EU citizens to come to the UK, i was just wondering what her options would be, even if her only options were to come to the UK on a student visa or tourist visa,
i would like to have as much information on this subject as possible, because it is very important for both me and her so we can look at our options for the future, thanks.

Student visa is possible, budget about £20 or £30k pa for that, visit visa possible but difficult unless she has strong ties back home, such as kids, property, job etc. With a UK boyfriend in the mix this can lead the ECO to assume she's gonna attempt to live here so you need a strong application.

My partner and I (also Russian) did the student visa route, cost us £10k in fees one year and £20k the next, but that was 7 years ago,now you need to provide proof of living expenses etc too. There are cheap dodgy colleges around that will no doubt get referred to here, don't go there, last think you need is the immigration hell the majority here find themselves in.

Hope you have lots of cash and good job, this is gonna cost!

If she have means to pay for her post graduate degree after her graduation she should Ok for that. She might even get sponsorship depending on her course.
