Immigration for elderly dependent father of British national

Post by Gergaze » Mon Feb 17, 2014 12:47 am

I am a British national and I would like to bring my father to the UK permanently. He is 67 years old WIDOWER and is financially dependent on me. However, I send him money via unofficial channels (known as Hawala or Hundi). Please guide me as to how I go about bringing him over permanently and how difficult or easy it is. Thanks for your help guys.

Almost impossible unless he's dependant on carers for every day tasks such as washing and dressing himself - and then you'll have to prove you can no longer afford to keep paying the carers - but at the same time prove you can afford to keep him in the UK without recourse to public funds (which, in all but the richest countries, is a catch 22).

In fact, under the new rules an elderly parent would have to be so dependent on full time care they probably wouldn't be fit enough to travel!
