Advice on possible visas

Post by anthonyb123 » Thu Feb 20, 2014 11:58 pm

I am a British Citizen, 20 years old and currently a student in my 2nd year of university. My girlfriend is an international student who has been studying in the UK for two years and is currently doing a Masters degree. My girlfriends visa will run out after she finishes her course which will probably be at the end of this year.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how we could get a visa for her to stay in the UK for longer?

I have looked into the visa for the partner of a british citizen but it says that you have to have lived together for 2 years. Obviously because we are students we have not been living together but in separate houses. Also, we have only been together for 8 months so far so by the end of the year we will only have been together for round a year and a half.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

4 answers:

1) Study more and extend student visa (if she hasn't exceeded max time already)
2) Find a company to sponsor her for a tier 2 visa (http://ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-imm ... 2/general/)
3) Get married - but then you'll have to meet the financial requirements of £18,600 earnings a year.
4) Leave uni and move to her home country.

Those are the obvious choices.
