In-Laws Visiting VISA

Hi,

We are planning to sponsor visiting visa for my In-Laws.

I came to know that,for VISITING visa my father-in-law needs to show income proofs in India. At the moment he don't have any regular income /income proof to show UK home office.Can my father-in-law show his son income who is in India ? Could you please let me know is this documents mandatory for visiting VISA?

You have to show strong ties with home country. If your father in law is the owner of a house/land in India then produce the documentation and attach with the application. You have to convince UKBA that the person who is visiting UK will go back to his home country after the visit.

Hi... actually my mother-in-law got her visit visa recently without showing any funds/property in India. But in our case, it was just her visiting for my wife's pregnancy/delivery. We wrote a cover letter stating there are other close family members like father-in-law, sister-in-law and grandma who are still in India and hence mother-in-law will definitely return back to India. In theory, if only one of your parents are visiting, then its much easier without showing property etc... Having said that, if they have property/funds, it is better to show this. Definitely avoid depositing substantial funds into their accounts just for the visa purpose. If they only have xxxx amount for their monthly expenses its fine. You can show funds here in UK and declare that you would fully sponsor them. They are not expected to sponsor their visit by themselves. If you have additional family members, who are in a good financial position to sponsor them, include them as well.

Thank you for your reply. Just want to confirm have you applied for Family visiting VISA or General visiting VISA. I am on Tier 1 visa. So I can only apply for them General Visiting visa(I guess).

Have you mentioned in your covering letter stating that your mother-in-law coming to look after your wife ? Please let me know.

Yes, it is the general visiting visa. I believe, family visitor only applies if the sponsor is settled/citizen of UK. We did mention that mother-in-law is coming at the time of birth of our son, but we clearly mentioned that this is NOT a child care arrangement and also produced a letter from wife's work about planned maternity leave, etc.

could you send (message) me the covering letter of the invitation please if you dont mind, as i will be inviting my mother in law as well on a visit here at the time of the birth of our child.
