nothing really
only benefit i can see is if in future EEA law change it will not effect you.
for example. UKBA didn't ask students before 2011 who registered with EEA1 to provide evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance,
and later if they apply for permanent residence as a student, their application will not be refused solely on the grounds that there is no evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance on the date of decision.
but students never granted a certificate ( EEA 1 ) need to provide evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance throughout their time as student to apply for PR
