ILR Long residence continuous residence broken or not?

Thank you all for being very informative on this forum

I have a question and really appreciate a swift response. I have asked this before but now there has been a new development in my case since i received the documents from Home Office after my SAR request.

I am applying for ILR based on LR this august when i will complete my 10 years. My query is in relation to one element of my immigration history

in 2010 i was granted a tier 2 visa expiring on 21/10/2013. However i lost my job and 13/07/2012 was my last working day. I left UK then on 8/08/2012 and came back to UK within six months on a tier 4 visa.

now i am not sure whether or not my continuous residence has been broken. i requested SAR from home office and its specifically written in those documents that when i lost my job on 13/07/2012 then my employer did notify the home office and hence they curtailed my leave to 12/02/2013 (originally the leave was granted for 3 years until 21/10/2013).

now i think my continuous hasn't been broken because:

a) when i left UK on 8/08/2012 then on that date i had a valid leave to remain
b) i left but i came back within 6 months

am i right? please advise

plz i would also like to know why the home office did not curtail my leave to 60 days and allowed me leave till feb 2013 which is like 8months after i lost my job
