First Passport application for adult/child after Naturalisation/Registration
Passport Office: Bootle (but later it looks like our applications were transferred to Newport)
Application submitted: 15 January 2022
(6weeks before my child turned 16! - the advice is that one can apply for child’s passport until 3 wks before their 16th birthday)
Identity verified: 16 Jan
Application received:16 January 2022
Documents sent: 18 Jan
Documents delivered: 19 Jan (via RM next day guarantee)
Documents received: 2 February 2022 only after an enquiry call
Application being processed: 3 February 2022
Documents received: Adult received 3 March
On 7March , we received a letter requesting my child to declare the application for now “adult’s passport” and asking to pay more fee given the difference in the application fee between adult’s passport and child’s. All sent back and paid by 11March.
Documents received: Child received on 18March
Both sets were received with a memo stating
- your passport application is being processed
- the documents submitted have been noted and are enclosed.
Application approved: Pending
(now counting 9weeks and 3days….. seriously. And i asked to please consider as we heard the news that my father is not very well and even my mother was in hospital for the last few days)

I thought we set the record for naturalisation, which was approved amazongly quick. And i think our passport application at this rate would be one of the longest in the last few months……..
, in bland envelope and without the plastic protection bag I had sent it in.
