It took 1 year 1.5 months to get a decision.

It was a really really stressful period and I have contacted them 3 times during this time for updates and the MP twice. Contacting the MP didn't help at all. On my THIRD attempt of contacting the HO (furthernationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk), which was last month (after a year of waiting), I asked them "Can you please expedite the application?", they sent me the typical reply that my application is pending external checks etc, but they did mention that they have contacted the team leader of the caseworker dealing with the application in ordered to expedite the case. I received my approval almost 3 weeks after that. So probably that did the trick?! Maybe.

Email 2 weeks later from Home Office Atlas saying my son’s biometrics had not been enrolled. Called to try and find out what had happened as both done on same day. Ensured the email was an error.
Email received two weeks after this to say both of our biometrics not received. Made numerous calls and sent numerous emails to try find out the problem. Yet again ensured biometrics done. Eventually received email from NationalityExceptionsTechnical@homeoffice.gov.uk saying that checks had been done and there was a technical fault resulting in my son’s biometrics not being received. This was being investigated and no further action was required from me as they could see both biometrics had been done on the same day.
