Lady on the counter asked me which pen I used to fill the form. I said Gel pen. She said that it has to be a black biro pen. She said that she will send the application but it can be returned because of the pen I used. She futher said that if the application is returned she will not refund the Check and send fee of £9.75.

How did you confirm that your application was received on the 7/1/2016. I sent my application through Post office check and send. I filled the form for tracking application but havent heard anything back from them.

Having looked at other users comment here about making an interview appointment without the letter, I attempted to book one this morning. First I called up the passport adviceline to check the progress of the application. He said an interview letter is on its way. Then I called the interview helpline (0300 222 1000) to check if I can book interview appointment. The lady asked if I have received the letter and I honestly replied no. She said without the letter she cannot book an interview. So need to waiting for the letter now!

Sent passport application on Monday 4th, had interview 8th Jan. Super quick. Well done Passport Office!

At the interview, I forgot the name of my countersignatory, gave the wrong email address and could not remember my phone number. At the end of the interview, the interviewee just said 'your interview is now over.' She did not say anything about what to expect next.

I understood that if all ok, the passport goes ot print the day of the interview? And/or that I should get a SMS?

Anyone had a similar experience (messed up interview) and if so what should I expect now?

Got my first British passport today(08/01/2016). Applied on 16th of december. Got back all documents on 23/12/2015. Waited for appointment letter but one of my friend suggested me to call directly without the letter. I then called probably on 29/12/2015 and able to take an interview appointment without any hassle for 6th of jan 2016 at london passport office. The interview was quite nice and friendly. Basicslly it should not be called interview better name it as a friendly discussion. Its all about yourself, nothing else. So do not worry. Got sms on 7/1/16 morning 9:25 am and got my passport finally today 8/1/16 at 11:51am by DX service. So happy.

Hi there, I have posted my passport application via post and send service from London on 18/12/15 and still waiting for documents to be back and interview letter. Do you think its normal to take that long? I know it was bank holiday weekends but I can see lots of people applied after me got their passports by now. Do you think I should query this or wait few more days? Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi allenboo, you are right. There are different offices they ask you to send form to. I remember when I applied for my son last year, it was Glasgow. When I applied for my one recently, it says send to Liverpool.

I just want to clarify if d33mee sent his form to Liverpool or Belfast, because even if you applied online, You have to send the declaration form to one of their offices.

Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences and just to let you know about my experience to book an interview appointment i first called them on 23rd but the lady over the phone said my file is not with interview department yet and told me to wait for the letter to arrive & if i dont receive it till 29th then give them a call so they will book my appointment for interview.
But i tried again on 24th and the guy told my application is with interview department and asked me to give a call on following number 0300 222 1000 to book an appointment and everything went smooth.

Just take email confirmation printout, me and others received letter quite and we had interview beforehand. I handed the email printout and mentioned letter was dispatched and not received, no issue. They have record and file and can check all details. Go ahead without worrying
