The question is how do I track this aplication from now on ?
I ser a lot of people seing their application "has been received". How do you know that ?

My wife received her passport last Tuesday and to this day hasn't received an interview letter.

She booked it over the phone and took the emailed confirmation. They don't like it when we arrived for interview but it took him 30 seconds to find my wife in the system

Updates:

Having looked at other users comment here about making an interview appointment without the letter, I attempted to book one this morning. First I called up the passport adviceline to check the progress of the application. He said an interview letter is on its way. Then I called the interview helpline (0300 222 1000) to check if I can book interview appointment. The lady asked if I have received the letter and I honestly replied no. She said without the letter she cannot book an interview. So need to waiting for the letter now!

You may or may not get a letter because when i called them up for ABI (Authentication by Identification -Interview) status , at 0300 222 0000 choosing option for progress, they said they have stopped or reduced sending letters and asked me to check a couple of times in a week if I have got passed the ABI status. They would then give the reference number by phone and also email you the reference number as a confirmation. You would have to use this email and the reference number in it to book your appointment by calling 0300 222 1000. I hope this helps

This is the second day I am calling to schedule and interview and their system is down... Hopefully wouldn't be much longer, just want to book it and get over this lengthy expensive process.

Just a call back from them and was able to book an interview for Monday the 18th.

Lady on the counter asked me which pen I used to fill the form. I said Gel pen. She said that it has to be a black biro pen. She said that she will send the application but it can be returned because of the pen I used. She futher said that if the application is returned she will not refund the Check and send fee of £9.75.

Sent passport application on Monday 4th, had interview 8th Jan. Super quick. Well done Passport Office!

At the interview, I forgot the name of my countersignatory, gave the wrong email address and could not remember my phone number. At the end of the interview, the interviewee just said 'your interview is now over.' She did not say anything about what to expect next.

I understood that if all ok, the passport goes ot print the day of the interview? And/or that I should get a SMS?

Anyone had a similar experience (messed up interview) and if so what should I expect now?

Got my first British passport today(08/01/2016). Applied on 16th of december. Got back all documents on 23/12/2015. Waited for appointment letter but one of my friend suggested me to call directly without the letter. I then called probably on 29/12/2015 and able to take an interview appointment without any hassle for 6th of jan 2016 at london passport office. The interview was quite nice and friendly. Basicslly it should not be called interview better name it as a friendly discussion. Its all about yourself, nothing else. So do not worry. Got sms on 7/1/16 morning 9:25 am and got my passport finally today 8/1/16 at 11:51am by DX service. So happy.
