I am about to apply for passport following receipt of naturalisation certificate. Reading this thread has confused me somewhat on the best method of applying i.e. online or post. Even if you apply online, they still send you the document to sign and complete a few bits and to send in your supporting documents. I would recommend postal but that is my opinion.

Can someone please summarise the benefits of one over the other in terms of timescales, easiness, cost etc. So that i can decide and proceed with my application. No difference, a first time British Passport all go through the same processes and cost the same.

Better to do online, cost & time and other factors remain same.
Applying online is better as you can track the process.

Thanks. They text me saying passport printed today, but when I received today was a day before I received the text. Was printed after my interview ..same day

You can book your ceremony online , just follow this link

Keep a record of the reference number you get and contact Home Office Citizenship support on below email.

Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

They will get back to you with the resolution.

I have got a question. I phoned my council several times about booking of a private citizenship ceremony. All the time they ask my details and after that they tell me you have to wait for a message. 15 days are gone since the date I have received my invitation letter. The council didn't send me anything so far. Is it ok? By law I have to book my citizenship ceremony within 21 days after receiving a citizenship invitation. I started to worry about it. What should I do if the council would not reply in a week's time?....

Yes interview was in Crawley office on Tuesday (2 June) & passport received today.

Note: Initial application (7 March) rejected by NCS PO clerk as countersignatory's date on photo didn't match date used by countersignatory on form.

18 March: Passport official phoned my wife to say British passport cannot be issued as she applied for her 1st British passport in married name & current passport (uncancelled) is in maiden name.

20 April: Received letter from HM PO blocking issuance of a passport due to 'Dual Identity' issue.
