UPDATE: I received an email this morning from UKVI regarding my UKM citizenship application. It requested I supply a scanned copy of my birth certificate to them showing my parentage. It is required to give my application "further consideration." This was lacking on my original birth certificate I submitted back in October. My old style British Columbia (Canada) birth certificate only shows my full name as well as date and place of birth. I went to the local provincial government agent and ordered one that shows my parentage. It costs $27 (about 14 pounds). So for anyone that has the same type of birth certificate as I do and are planning on applying for your UK citizenship make sure you obtain a new style birth certificate showing your parentage which will avoid this delay. I had to bring my old birth certificate and of course valid photo identification with me to the government agent for them to check which is only reasonable. Ensure you know the city and place of birth for both parents as well as the spelling of your mothers maiden name. The information will be entered into the computer and then a new style original birth certificate will be mailed to you. She told me it would take 1-2 weeks. I hope it is the lesser of the 2!!! So I thought this might save some people some time if they're in the same boat as me with an olD style birth certificate that lacks parentage information. Just thought I'd add this information to the forum. Thanks!!
