My elderly dad is unwell and I need to travel to see him. We have had our MP involved and supporting us, and are awaiting 'medical evidence' they are going to send in to see if it will expedite our decision. We are dismayed and frustrated, as we both work, own a home outright, support the community/volunteer, pay taxes and are good people.Our caseworker said to us 'we can see you meet the guidelines, but we just need the tax document to support the application' . Why on earth is this taking so long?? This isn't a complex case! I was told even if my dad passed away, I would have to withdraw my application to travel, be subject to being banned from coming back (to my family, home, job and life), and would lose any monies paid into my application.

Hello,

I've found this website extremely helpful for information throughout the whole process so I thought I'd share my timeline with you to help some other people who may be in my situation.

I was in the UK on a Tier 5 YMV changing to a FLR(M) with my British boyfriend of three years

Application made and paid for 10 October 2017
Premium Service Centre Liverpool appointment 6 Nov 2017 (Was sent away as I didn't have the correct payslips)
New Documents Sent 7 November 2017
REFUSED 19th November 2017 (Income £267 short for the 12 months prior) (After considering overtime and bonuses I was something like £27 under)

I was given 14 days to dispute the outcome, reapply or leave the country!

Due to me not wanting to fail again and not sure how to proceed we contacted XXXXXXX, London.
XXXXXXXXX was my point of contact, he was fantastic! Very understanding of the importance of the result and time sensitivity of my application. After finding out my rights ( I lost my working rights which is something I wouldn't have known if I hadn't seen a Solicitor and I would have been working illegally!!) and how to proceed I was advised to reapply as my income had increased since I first applied meaning I should now pass.

Waiting for my passports to be returned!!

Fantastic result costing a lot of money in the end (Paying for the Premium Service Centre, 1st application, 2nd application and Solicitor fees.) I would definitely suggest going straight to a firm such as XXXXXXXX next time as they would most likely have avoided the entire first refusal situation and ended up saving me money!

Very glad I can now get back to work and sleeping properly knowing that I can stay in the UK for at least the next two and a half years with my boyfriend.
