Good Morning,

I dont know its a right thread to apply of there is some other.

I did apply online for citizenship on 15/11/2017 and was in UKVI third party center (Sopra Steria) on 19/11/2018.

I asked Sopra representative that I want to apply my passport as well so can you submitt my passport application but they refused that and told me that they are there just for Citizenship application documents not for passport.

I saw different timeline thread in which members gave information that when they applied for citizenship application and after 4-5 days they applied for passport application as well.

My querry is '' how can i apply for passport application after applying and submitted application"

Quick reply will be appriciated.

thanks

It was possible applying at the council through NDRS joint citizenship and passport scheme service applying for both at the same time (not 4 days later). It is not available through the new service. You will have to wait till you have attended your ceremony before applying for a passport.

Hello All,
I wonder if this is the right place to ask. Its been 7 weeks now since I did my biometrics for the naturalisation application and have heard nothing from them. Any one in that same shoe? Did it take this long? Is there an email I can use to contact them?

Thanks

Hi All.
As i read the the qualifying period is 270 days out of 3 years under BC spouse category, but there is also mention that 300 days of absences normally disregarded, on page 7 on folloing link
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... r_2018.pdf

So i am bit confused whether i should have to wait couple of moth to fullfill the 270 days requiremnet or apply? Bcz right now as i spend 288 days outside UK in 3 years.

Many thanks in advance

I have a few questions, I've applied for Citizenship as I have had ILTR for over 7 years, I used the new service and have paid over £1340. I'm attending the appointment at the Croydon office for biometrics.

1) What additional documents do I need to upload - I have already uploaded my passport, my husband's British Passport, My English cert, My Life in the UK test cert, Marriage cert. I have paid an additional £100 for the appointment and £35 for document checking (when will they do this, Will I be notified before the appointment?

2) Is this application with fee of around £1340 for Citizenship only? What about Passport, is that another process? if so, how do I do it? how much does it cost? and how long will it take?

3) Do I need to hand in my Indian passport at any stage before receiving/applying for my British Passport?

Thanks

After application for naturalisation does UKVI post back the original documents immediately or later?

Also does the decision letter come with the original documents or seperately?

Also if UKVI need to write to you, do they email or post ? or both.

Hi,

I have filed for my daughter and wife for British citizenship via the new online process.

Will be booking an appointment with ukvcas and uploading the documents to their website soon.

I am not able to find any information about how to apply for the passport along with this citizenship, even though in Gov. UK website it clearly says you can apply for both together.

Has anyone give through this ? Any advice

Thanks in advance

You cannot apply for both citizenship and the passport with the new service anymore.

have also applied for citizenship online and Sopra Steria have said they only deal with the biometrics and document submissions not the passport application, home office website still say's you can apply for passport at the same time as citizenship application which is incorrect as nearly all the JCAP centre have now stopped taking new appointments
Spoke to passport centre and they say they cannot advise need to speak to nationalities dept done that also and same answer they cannot advise about passport applications so the information is very confusing

Home Office themselves are unable to advise the correct procedure
now it seem you have to wait until you get your naturalization certificate before you can apply for a passport which again increases the waiting time

Some NDRS have still booked appointments into December, so the website is still technically correct. The fact that NDRS and NCS are no longer taking appointments is separate to that.

I am filling out the online application form, but it won't let me input more than 30 trips out of the UK in the last 5 years.
I am well under the limit of absences but have made 32 trips out (many only 3-4 days). Would you suggest I write a cover letter explaining this with the full list of absences in a table?

I also do not have stamps in my passport for many of the trips as I am a UK Registered Traveller and have US Global Entry. Do you think P60s will be enough proof of residence?

Thanks!

if your passport covers your last 5 years time (3 years if you are applying on spouse route) then you do not have to submit any additional documents. if it does not then you can submit p60s, any ukvi correspondance during that time, bank statement etc to prove that you have been present in united kingdom during these 5 or 3 years...you have already submitted your life in uk cert, english lang cert, passport, brp which are the main documents required for naturalisation application. YOU ALSO HAVE TO SUBMIT TWO SIGNED COPIES OF YOUR REFEREES (ONE PROFESSIONAL, ONE PERSONAL). when you submitted your application online you must have got referee delcaration forms. you need to put your photo on those forms

when do you have your appointment for biometric enrolment and documentation checking service...as far as i know if you take enhanced checking service that costs you £60. but as you said you have paid £100 then you should have got next day or even same day bio-metric enrolment and documents checking service.

in this new front end service you can not apply for passport at same time so once you get your approval then after ceremony you can apply for your passport. or maybe before ceremony.

i do not think you have handover your indian passport but please check the indian dual nationality policy.

please do tell me when you booked your appointment, did you get early dates for document checking and biometric enrolment or it is very busy and you get very long appointments. i shall be thankful for the information.

hi to all respectable members,

i need some information about new front end visa service for naturalisation application. i shall be very thankful for the your valuable advice;

A) when we submit online application then we book our appointment for biometric enrolment and enhanced documents checking service if we want one. i live in london so are people getting appointments on earlier dates or it is very busy in all centres and appointments availability is low.

B) when i applied and got my ILR i submitted my life in UK test certificate and did not get that back with other documents. But i have copies and reference or test instance id mentioned on certificate. So is it ok to submit that copy or i have to provide the original one which off course i don't have.

C) during my last 5 years my passport covers 4 years and 8 months...but for 4 months i had extensive correspondence with ukba and i have all those letters and case id numbers and reference numbers...so should they be enough to cover those 4 months or i should provide more information like bank statements, p60 etc.

i shall be very thankful for your comments on my post..regards.

Can you please describe the application process with UKVCAS lounge? Did they copy your passport and returned it to you? Or you had to submit your passport? What about the other docs...did they just check them in person, then scan and upload to UKVI and then hand you all the originals back?

Hi everyone,

I need some help.

I applied online for my naturalisation on Sunday and I have my appointment to submit my documents via the new service on 7 December (Friday).

For proof of living in the U.K. it says passport with stamps is sufficient. I have A LOT of stamps in my passport. Do I need to scan all the pages of my passport.

I also have employment letters for proof of living here. I only have my last two p60s but I have my p45. I also have my HMRC yearly tax code letters.

Do you think my proof of employment letters with p60s and p45 is sufficient? I have applied via marriage so I need to prove the last three years. My job I left in 2016 is the one I don’t have a p60 for or payslips as everything was electronic but they sent me a proof of employment letter that I requested for my application.

The closet open centre to me under the new service is the premium one which I had to pay extra for and they do a document checkin service too. When I paid it said I would get a next day decision after biometrics.

I will also keep you posted on the timeframes just worried about the proof of living here part.

Thank you for your help!

So I went for my appointment on Saturday, I had paid premium service (£100) and Document check (£30), the whole process took approx. 30 mins.

They took biometrics, then checked the docs that I had uploaded - even though I received an email saying no action required from the document check the day before the appointment.

They also scanned each page of my passport that had stamps along with the 2 x referee letters with my picture attached, not sure why I needed to take a photograph and have my name written on the reverse if they were going to sign.

I asked how long before I know the result, the guy doing the checks didn't know and couldn't advise either. Just said please call the number. How do I know how long this will take, any ideas anyone?

Thanks

The processing and deciding is still done by UKVI - and they have a standard assumption of six months - but could be just one to three months.

I just went through the "NEW SERVICE" on Monday and the experience was atrocious:

1. completed online application and payment on UKVI within which I had to decide between "new" and conventional service processing. Decided to use the new service after checking available of freshly opened centres in central London.

2. After payment was taken, I was forwarded to the Sopra Steria UKVCAS website to book an appointment. The three nearest centres to me (basically all London centres) had no appointments at all listed. Not a single one - not even premium ones or appointments way in the future. None. Zero options. Slight frustration set in. Last time I went through the process I simply booked an appointment with my local council, which was easy and fast. I was now regretting I'd opted for the new process and started to mildly panic.

3. As the system only works on a by-postcode basis, I was unable to bring up further lounges despite the fact that I was now even willing to drive across the country to find a lounge that could give me an appointment.

4. I was starting to fake postcodes in the south-east of England, just to get more options. Croydon always showed at the top, but the first available date was between Christmas and new year for £100. Kinda crazy after already spending £1,349.00 for the second time (previous application attempted was rejected).

5. phoned both UKVI (who just said "out of our hands" and "nothing to do with us") and Sopra (on premium number for £2.40). The latter advised me to keep refreshing the available centres page since new openings are being made available throughout the day. What an utterly ridiculous was of playing Russian roulette...

6. I eventually found an availability in Brighton (2 hours drive from here) for this coming Monday and at a premium rate of £100. I never took Sopra's advice and sat down to refresh the web page over and over to see if I could get in somewhere.

7. I uploaded the documents I had - however the upload categories did in no way match the checklist or requirements from the UKVI application process.

I might have just been unlucky, but after carefully planning my citizenship application in spring only to be rejected after realising I've been holding the wrong type of residency card for over a year, and being aware of the looming crash out of the EU in Match which will end my chance of dual citizenship, I was slightly against the clock.

To me this "new" process is a complete mess unless it drastically speeds up the acceptance process (which I don't think it does - but please correct me if I'm wrong). The lack of visibility of available appointment slots at the centres near you at point of decision-making which system to opt into is a serious weak spot.

It's another example of the government outsourcing and privatising a part of the process they don't want to deal with anymore and leaving the applicants at the mercy of private companies' chaos and greed.
