FIance Visa and accommodation support?

Post by newlight1 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 3:21 am

Hello,

I was just wondering, are their any legal implications for my parents if they wrote a letter of an offer of accommodation in support for a fiance visa. They were wondering what they could be held to etc?

Also if my parents did not agree, I have some friends she can stay with untill we find a place together and I will stay with my parents untill after we are married and she can stay with my friends also until we find our own place. Is this acceptable to immigration? Or would we have to be living together right away?

Thanks in Advance

Thanks in Advance

No there will be no legal implications for you or for your parents if you decide that is where both of you will stay till you are in a position to find your own place.

You will need to get a letter of support from your parents stating that they are happy to let you stay with them at their house.

If your parents own property outright, they will need to provide evidence of this by means of property title deeds ( available from from Land Registry website for about a tenner).

If they have mortgage on it,they will need to show the mortgage payments are up to date etc.

I would not recommend you state friends as there have been a number of cases where the applicant has been turned down simply because that "no secure accommodation" was available with friends

Thanks so much for that.

I have a solicitor and she told me I needed to get someone from the council to come out and that would be about £60 for a property inspection but everyone else I have talked to have said that evidence from the Land Registry is sufficient?

Thanks Vin,

Does a Land Registry report show how many rooms there are and the size of them?

My Solicitor told me I need a Property INspection report. If I do get a property Inspection report is there anything that I know would be a good standard for a property inspection report? Can it be done by an Architect? What specifically does it need to show etc?

Thanks again!
