How does my switch from ILR to citizenship affect dependent?

Post by rclarke » Thu Apr 12, 2012 11:07 pm

If a person having ILR applies for their spouse / civil partner to have a dependant visa, and then the person then acquires British citizenship, what happens to the spouse's dependant visa? Will they have to reapply again. Let's assume that they haven't had the visa for 2 years yet and can't apply for ILR or citizenship.

It has no effect. Your partner's status is granted equally to partners of British citizens or settled residents.

Thanks for the reply.
Will the partner wouldn't have to go back to ukba once my status changes from ILR to citizen? After 2 years, will they apply for ILR and then citizenship a year later?
