Solicitor in Belfast to certify passport copies

Post by destiniation_london » Fri Apr 13, 2012 11:45 am

Does anyone knows any solicitor in Belfast who would be able to certify my passport copies so I can send them over to India for spouse and child settlement visa.

I have spoken to like 50 solicitors and all of them are not ready to certify unless they have known me for atleast 2 years.

I've told them that I'll bring my original passport and copies of passport which you can double check before signing, but they are just not ready to do it.

Would really really appreciate if anyone knows any solicitor in Belfast who would be able to do it

Cor blimey, they are certifying the passports copies are true version of the originals.

They are not certifying you as a person, for them to have known you for two years.

Just photocopy pages of your passport and take them into a solicitors firm and ask them to stamp the pages and confirm they are true copies. Should take no more than 10 minutes and cost you about a tenner.

Trust me, I have tried to explain this to them but they are just not ready to certify it as long as they don't know me for 2 years.

I've spoken to so many .... I've kept post office identity check service as my last resort but just want to get certified from solicitor.

Hi destiniation_london

as batleykhan explained I think this is what you need to do:

- Take a photocopy of the BIO page of your passport
- Take both the Passport and the photocopies with you to a solicitor
- Ask them straight away, how much do they charge on certifying the passport copy (showing both the copy and the passport in your hands).

I think the solicitors you are going to, seems to be thinking that you are asking them to certify your immigration status in the UK etc etc, something along the lines that you do when applying for a provisional licence. However you do not need that, you only need to ask the solicitors to stamp the copy of the passport stating that it is a 'real' copy.
