Child needs to be registered as Indian before MN1?

Post by ssem » Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:22 am

Hi,

My child was born in 3 months before my husband got his ILR and we want to send in his MN1 application but are confused regarding whether he needs to be registered first with the Indian consulate to be treated as an Indian citizen before we can apply for his MN1 under section 1(3)
I know from other posts in this forum that he does not need an Indian passport but if we do not register his birth as Indian citizen will he not be treated as stateless for the purpose of the MN1?

Please advise. Thanks in advance
