Tier-2 ICT expired after submitted for Visa extension

Hi, I came to uk on Feb19th Tier-2 ICT and applied for visa extension through my company on 22nd Feb. Current visa expired on 29th Feb. Please let me know if i stay in uk after my visa expires is it illegal or can stay until i get the response frm embassy

Although now past its date of expiry, your leave will continue to be valid and you may continue to work, until a decision is made.
