Can I apply for Tier-2 General bein a Tier-2 ICT dependent

Hello all,

Please guide me on the following.

I am in UK on Tier-2 ICT(1 year) dependent visa.

My visa is valid from Jan 2012 to Jan 2013.

As of new rules, if I get any sponsor can I apply for Tier-2 general visa?

Please give me your advise to extend our stay here.

You can apply but the application will have to be submitted outside the UK.

But I heard that if I am going out of UK, I have to complete the cooling of period before coming to UK again.

Only if you were a Tier 2 migrant previously. Clearly you aren't.

Sorry for asking you so many questions.

What exactly it meant by ' Tier 2 migrant'. It is bit confusing to me. I am already living in UK for last 3 month on 'Tier-2 ICT dependent' visa.

A T2 migrant is a sponsored migrant worker. Dependants of T2 migrants are classed under a different immigration status with different conditions. They can't apply for ILR after five years (independently) for example.

So if any employer is ready to sponsor me, I have to go back to India and from there I have to apply for Tier-2 visa.

Is there any other option available like applying for visa being here in UK.

You cannot switch in country. You need to apply from outside the UK.
