BRP stolen in Spain

Post by kannit » Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:02 pm

Hi,

Mine BRP got stolen in Spain last week. I reported the incident to police in Spain and they gave me a report in Spanish. Then I got a single entry replacement visa (vignette) from British Consulate in Madrid and came back to UK

Now I need to apply for Replacement BRP through BRP(RC) form. This form requires to provide a Police Reference Number. I am not clear if I can give reference number from police report I got from Spain?

I called UKBA and they said they cannot translate non-English document. This means that I cannot provide them the Spanish police report unless it is translated into English and authticated.

Is there a way to get this Spanish police report translated into English and authenticated so that UKBA can accept it?

Any information will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I am in a similar situation and have already sent in my application for a replacement BRP. Nowhere in the directions did it say the original police report had to be in English. Will my application be returned as invalid? The Madrid consulate accepted the Spanish police report as it was. They have already looked at it. Why is there not a quicker way to replace BRPs?

the guidance notes for the form clearly state that all documents not in English need to be accompanied by a reliable English translation

The Madrid Consulate work in Spain and therefore can be reasonably expected to read Spanish, the staff working for the UKBA in the UK cannot be expected to be able to read documents in hundreds of languages.

Please can you stop posting an almost identitical reply to every thread about BRP(RC). Please keep your queries to one thread.
