I need to speak to the home office can anyone help me with a number with which to reach them?

Do you mean the Home Office or the UKBA? The UKBA is an executive agency of the HO that deals with immigration and border control.

The applications with regards to Immigration are dealth by UK Border Agency or UKBA. Their number is 0870 6067766.
