Entrepreneur Visa questions

Post by ET_SG » Wed Apr 18, 2012 6:20 am

My girlfriend is soon to be applying for an entrepreneur visa, she is Australian and I am English. I have a few questions so any help would be much appreciated.

What proof is required of the the available funds? I will be providing part of the £200k (so will 2 statements be sufficient totalling £200k)? How long does these funds need to be held in the account / proof of statement before the application?

Do the funds have to be in sterling or can it be a sterling equivalent (i.e. some held in AUD)?

After the Visa is issued, how long do we have to arrive the UK?

Can my girlfriend work on a self employed basis or via a Limited company whilst whilst seeking to invest her funds?

After the 12 months of being on an entrepreneur visa, are there any exceptions as to why a 'Married Persons visa' cannot be applied for (as we will have been living together in excess of 2 years and I am a UK born citizen).

Can the necessary forms be downloaded or do we need to create an online login?

Thanks in advance

=> Bank Statements are the proofs
=> If you are providing part of the funds, you need to give a written consent and your identity needs to be verified by any legal representative
=> There is no requirement of keeping the 200k for some time span. They are concerned that if you have Available/closing balance that amounts to 200k. However, its good to provide the statements of about 3 weeks.

Do the funds have to be in sterling or can it be a sterling equivalent (i.e. some held in AUD)?

=> It can be any currency. they use OANDA site to apply conversion rates

After the Visa is issued, how long do we have to arrive the UK?

=> Not much sure about it, but I think just like HSMP used to be, there is no restriction that you need to be in the UK within certain time span. What they want to ensure is that the 200k has been invested prior to the extension.

Can my girlfriend work on a self employed basis or via a Limited company whilst whilst seeking to invest her funds?

=> She can only work for her own company that she would form or takeover

After the 12 months of being on an entrepreneur visa, are there any exceptions as to why a 'Married Persons visa' cannot be applied for (as we will have been living together in excess of 2 years and I am a UK born citizen).

=> as far as my understanding goes, its entirly the choice of the applicant to opt for certain visa catagory. There job is to judge that if the application qualifies for the points or not.

Can the necessary forms be downloaded or do we need to create an online login?

=> Never utalized the online system as it's functions are limited, I suggest you to download the form and fill it and go via postal application

Thanks in advance
