France: work permit on CDS for non-EU spouse of UK citizen

Post by Parapluie » Wed Apr 18, 2012 10:52 am

Hi,

Sorry if this topic has been covered already but I had a thorough look through recent topics and couldn't find anything exactly on point.

I'm a UK citizen living in Paris with my wife, a non-EU (Australian) citizen. We're in the process of applying for her carte de sejour and are reasonably far along the process.

I'm in the process of applying for work and have some good prospects to be able to work for a UK company while living here. My wife would like to work in Paris but her work status depends on my work.

If I end up working for a UK company (based in UK) does this affect my wife's ability to be given permission to work as part fo her CDS? Do I have to be employed by a French company for her to be given the right to work in France?

Thanks,
Tim

Work in France is work in France even for a Martian owned company.

In case you haven't understood my tongue in cheek response. The employer does not have to be French. Even if the employment contract is in the UK and you work in France, you would be considered to be a posted worker.

Thanks for your reply, that makes sense. And I got the irony
