Rights in the UK - Spouse VISA holder

Post by harv » Thu Apr 19, 2012 11:58 am

Hi

Sorry if the thread is in a wrong forum but this is the closest I could think of.

My wife is now here in the UK with the 27 Months Spouse VISA, I was wondering what she can apply for while on this VISA.

- NI number - I am sure you are eligible for this while on Spouse VISA, there are no restrictions on working in the UK
- Electoral Roll - Register with the local Council, seems like only ILR or BC can do this?
- Provisional Driving Licence - Any insight on the documents required
- ISA Savings account
- Normal Savings account
- Current Account - Well my wife already has this now with HSBC, no issues

Thanks
Feb 2012 - Spouse Visa - New Delhi
Mar 2012 - Documents collected - VISA Granted
March 2014 - ILR Granted
Apr 2015 - Applied for Naturalisation
Nov 2015 - Naturalised

If your wife is from India she should be able to register on the electrol roll as she is from a Commonwealth country,

Hi Harv,

How are you? Married life, how is the wife getting on?

I have looked into this, for NI number if you go to this site it will explain - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAnd ... /DG_190057
Also I think you can go to the local job centre and they also can do it for you. I would probably go ask at the local job centre first personally.

Provisional Driving Licence, they will ask for her passport, birth certificate and proof of address which is now your HSBC statement.

Not sure about the Electrol Roll one yet not looked into it my self.
