Child born outside UK to a naturalised BC? Is child BC?

Post by fev » Thu Apr 19, 2012 12:35 pm

Hi!

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to the following question.
My friend became a British citizen (naturalisation) last year. Now she and her partner (Australian citizen) are outside the UK. She is a couple months away from giving a birth to their child. As the child will be born outside the UK to a naturalised British citizen, does the child have British citizenship automatically or what status he is going to have when they are back to the UK?
Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My Friend who has a British Citizenship by Naturalization in his own right for over 20 years and He has also got a British Passport soon after 20 years also up to date.

He went to Viet Nam for holidays 8 years ago and met a Vietnamese lady and he had got married to her about 6 years ago in Viet Nam, Since then his wife has given birth 2 children ( 1 son and 1 daughter aged between 2 - 4 years old ), they both have been living with their mother in Viet Nam since Birth to date while the father has been living in England, and the father has been back to Viet Nam to visit their mother and themselves one or twice a year from England.

The father would like to apply for his children to become a British Citizen and British Passport under the British Law of the children who have been born outsite the United Kingdom and have one of the parent under British Citizen by descent.

Therefore, Please advise and confirm that:
1. Do they have to registered British Citizen by fill in the form's called: MN1 (under instruction guidance note ) and each of them has to pay £ 669 for each MN1 application form

2. After fill in that MN1 form including all relevant information & instruction, Original documents & Certifications' needed together with the fee. Where these applications need to be sent directly to the main address of British Citizen department in Liverpool, England or have to be directly to the British Embassy / British Consulate addresses in Viet Nam / Thai Lan? Does the father who is the British Citizen has to go directly to one address of these places or the registration of British Citizen applications with all the relevant documents / Certificates can be register on line and will be handed to the British Embassy /British Consulate in Viet Nam by the mother on her children behalf?

3. As soon as the Registration for BC applications has reached the official British Department, then how long they will have to wait for the decision making as well as the certificate of BC will be offered to them?

4. After that, in order to apply for British Passports for these 2 children, where they should apply and applications should be sent oversea where they are still living at time in Viet Nam or the British Passports application for them can be sent to BP in England department instead?

Thanks for your exclusive patient and I am looking forward to your kindly reply

Re: Please confirm how much in total cost of: The break down cost in details:
1. British citizen application for the child under 16 years old who’s born and live outside United Kingdom of the British citizen of descent
2. The Solicitor fee for each case ( and also how much in total of British Citizen applications for 6 children.)

I am a British Citizen through Naturalization in my own right in November 2001 and I have also got a British Passport in December 2001.
I have been living in England since 1974 and I have been working full time as a care support worker for the caring LTD for many year in England.
I married to a Nigeria lady in Nigeria and we have 8 children in total.

I would like to apply for all 6 children under 16 years old for British Passports under their own right through British Citizen of descent.

Please confirm the breakdown of:
1. individual case cost of each application cost
2. Solicitor fee plus VAT for each case
3. Solicitor fee plus VAT for 6 children cases

As soon as I have the total cost confirmation from you, I will have to decide to apply for all of 6 children to have British passport at the same time or will have to choose only 3 children to begin with as I might have only limited fund is available to do so.

Thanks for your fully assistance in this matters as I am looking forward to your earliest reply from you : My Email: c4u.vnc@gmail.com

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please can you confirm that: My friend's children should be recognized as a British Citizen by descent as their father is a British Citizen by Naturalized and also has got a British Passport for many years.

There are two options that he should need to consider what is the best option he should need to choose:

1. MN1 application form for: Register to be British Citizen or
2. https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode/apply ... 0titlement

If he choose No: 1 then each child under 16 years old has to pay the fee : 669 Pounds for each child, then after receive the confirmation of the British Citizen certificate, then will need to pay further fee for British Passport ( child under 16 years old )

If he choose N: 2 then each child need under 16 years old has to pay the fee: A certificate of entitlement costs £289 outside the UK.
after receive this certificate of entitlement, then what would happen after that, does the child need to apply for British travel document ( how much is this cost? ) to use with that certificate or the child has to apply for the passport from the country that the child was born from birth.

Due to the limitation in financial problems as it cost too much for 6 children to be involved, if I choose option No: 2, should my children are free to travel and have no problem to enter in the United Kingdom to live with me ?

Please advice as clearly as possible, thanks for your great assistance in this matter.
