Visitor Visa advice needed

Post by dreambeats » Mon Apr 23, 2012 12:56 am

Hi, first off I apologise because I know these questions have probably been asked a million times on this forum but I'm hoping someone will be happy to help.

My girlfriend is Serbian, we have been together for nearly 18 months, in that time we've been on holiday to a couple of countries and I have travelled to Serbia to visit her and now we both feel is an ideal time for her to visit the UK. We've started planning for her to come and visit for 2 weeks this year, basically I just need some advice when it comes to her visa application.

• She is currently studying at university and is in her final year with exams due after her planned visit to the UK. As well as this she has recently gained very well paid employment there, would evidence from both of these be proof enough of her intention to return to serbia after her visit?

• I have read conflicting opinions on this one, when it comes to declaring her reason for visiting the UK would it be better to state she is visiting a friend or boyfriend?

• In the 'Supporting Document Guidelines' on the UKBA website it states the following can be obtained, Home Office letter confirming permission to stay in the UK. What would I need to do in order to for this to be granted?

• I know it suggests not to buy tickets until the visa application has been approved, if we do decide to buy the tickets previous to the application, will it be a big help or are there alternatives that would lessen the risk of losing money in case the visa application was denied?

And finally, if there is any other useful information you could give about applying, it would be very much appreciated and would ease both of our minds.

Many thanks for any help and again I apologise if any of the questions are at all repetitive.

See also visitors guidance.

Buying tickets before visa is granted is unnecessary and risky.

Yeah I did think it wasn't the best way to go, we've been discussing it and she seems to think it would help, where as I was unsure if it would be any benefit.

Thanks for pointing out the other forum, half asleep and kinda missed that and posted in the wrong one I guess.
