Switching from Tier 1 to Dependent Visa - Guidance

Post by adarshry » Mon Apr 23, 2012 10:02 am

Hi All,

As the title suggests, I would like to switch from Tier 1 to dependent visa.

My wife recently got her British Citizenship and it makes sense for me to switch to being a dependent as it is a lot less expensive.

I am going in for the premium same day service next week, but I am little unsure on the documents that I should attach?

Also, I have a Notarial Marriage Certificate as opposed to the Registered one. However, we have been living together in the UK for more than 5 years.

Could please someone advice?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Vinny,

I have this downloaded, just wondering if the Notarial Marriage Certificate is an acceptable document.

Also, we dont have any thing in joint names, but we do have various sorts of postal letters for the last five years in our individual names.

These are bank statements, utility bills, council tax statements, etc. Do I have to provide them for each month?

Thanks again!

i don't think that you have to provide douments for every month. Perhaps every four months (at least six in two years).

Note that if you a Tier 1 (General) holder, then you may qualify for settlement earlier than after switching to spouse status.

I have had my Tier 1 only for 3 years.
