"Working Days"

Post by totalhysteria » Tue Apr 24, 2012 2:38 pm

Hi,

My Fiancée has applied for a marriage visitor visa to the UK, from Ukraine. We are told from the mildly unhelpful website that it should take 3 weeks (15 working days), she was also told this at the visa centre in Kyiv. My question relates to what they call working days as I know from a friend that works with visa applications that they can send the applications to any British embassy in the world for processing. Obviously in Ukraine they have had 3 bank holidays since her application on 30 march 2012.

If the working days are based on the opening of the British Embassy in Ukraine, then the 15th day is today. But if not we could be several days over the advised time.

We booked a flight for this coming Sunday and have an appointment at the registry office 7 days after she has been in the uk to register our intent to marry (this is all included in our visa app)

So I suppose my real question is, do I have any hope of finding out where her application is in the queue, and should I be thinking about cancelling the flights and registry office appointments?

Three weeks is a guide. Some applications take much longer and some are emitted much sooner. Longer periods of consideration are based on the individual circumstances so it's not possible to make predictions or comment on possible reasons.
