Schengen Visa to Italy

Post by divinedanica » Tue Apr 24, 2012 3:20 pm

Hi All,

I'm in this situation and need help/suggestion on what to do.

I applied for Schegen visa through Netherlands Embassy (I'm travelling to Amsterdam from 28-Apr to 1-May) and I got the visa today which is multiple entry but valid from 28-Apr to 23-May. The problem is I've travel plans to different schengen countries till end of September and I had given them the itinerary tickets as well, but dont know why they issued it only till 23-May.

After Amsterdam, I'm travelling to Paris (3-May to 8-May), Stockholm (11-May to 13-May) and Italy (30-May to 10-June).

Given this situation, I can travel Paris & Stockholm; however I'll have to apply for Schengen visa again through Italy Embassy for my Italy trip and the future travels.

My Qs: Can i apply in Italy embassy after 13-May or do i need to wait till 23-May or do i need to go to Netherlands embassy to get it cancelled (after my Stockholm visit) because the window between 23-May & 30-May is too less and i dont wana take a chance.

Plz help!!

Thanks
Deb

P.S. I've an Indian passport, and I'm in London right now on Tier 2 UK WP visa.

Hi divinedanica,

you can already apply for your next visa with the Italian embassy now, as the planned validity lies after the validity of the current visa.

Don´t expect Schengen-Embassie´s staff to use their brain when issuing visas, they usually don´t.

My wife only ever got single-entry visas, even for 2 weekends following each other. (And with 3 or 4 days validity each)

Rgds and good luck,
Christian

Hi Christian -

Thanks a lot for your reply and that makes my life much more easier. However, i read in some other post that "You cannot hold more than one valid Schengen visa simultaneously", that's the reason i posted my query.. But what you are saying is I'll have one Schegen from 28-Apr to 23-May and another one from 30-May to whatsoever date. So it's not a problem for me to apply now.

I've one more qs: I'll be travelling to different cities in Italy and I'll apply for a tourist visa, do i need to show them hotel reservation in every city or just one city would do.. What's is suggested?
Also, is there any tips for getting a schengen visa for a longer period? Should i show them my itinerary for July, Aug & Sep along with hotel booking? This time i only gave the flight tickets and no hotel reservations.

Plz suggest.

Thx
Deb

Deb I have had applied for visa through French embassy and it was for 1 yr multy entery. Now I am not sure if they did it as I am a family member of EEA EU Citizen. but I did write them that we are travelling in our car so france is our first entery point. we travelled 4 times so they gave me visa for 1 yr. But now days I heard its for 3 months only max validity in general conditions.

Other thing you might have to show them all bookings otherwise you can show them your return tickets

other thing regarding your point "You cannot hold more than one valid Schengen visa simultaneously", My French visa was expiring and before it expired i sent my visa to german embassy and they gave the visa to me and then i sent it to hungarian embassy and they gave it to me.. My Point..

French visa expiring in May
German visa starting in April-june
HUngarian visa June-1 yr

Hi - Thanks for ur reply.

Doubt: WHy wud u need different visas for different countries - Isn't schengen visa applicable for all the schengen countries?

Right now I'm applying in Italy embassy and I'm planning to give them additional documents of my travel to Brussels, Barcelona, Prague & Germany, so that I can travel to all the countries in one visa.
