Wife passport endorsed with spouse name as observation

Post by destiniation_london » Tue Apr 24, 2012 7:19 pm

Quick question, my wife had my name endorsed in her passport as observation.

But her passport front page is still the same with the same middle name.

So, while filling application should I put the details as they are on the front page or as per the observation page which says spouse name has been corrected to read as my name.

Thanks

Hi destiniation_london

This is typical operations from Indian Passport offices. Most of the time they would opt for observations rather then issuing a completely new document with the changes, as long as the changes are minor.

So now that the Passport has an observation and an update, you need to use the updated details as this has been added to your files with the Indian Authorities. However you would need to make sure that whenever you are providing copies of the passport to anyone you copy all the related pages to this observation.

Hopefully this helps.

So should I fill in her details as my name as middle name while filling VAF4A application, even though her main page has her original middle name on first page. Just hoping it wouldn't confuse case worker because the observation page is stick on the 3rd page...

Well if you weren't going to use the new detail why did you opt for the change n the first place (I do not understand). Since now you have changed the details, you should try to use them on everything otherwise you end up with inconsistencies everywhere.

I would put in a cover letter stating the observation with the changes.

Thanks, but it wasn't something we opted. But to apply for our son's passport in India, the passport officer asked to have my wife's passport endorsed with my name (strange, but not convinced it was required)
