Customs Question

Post by SgtBellPepper » Wed Apr 25, 2012 2:35 pm

When travelling from a non-EU country to the UK, I have noted that the personal allowance is £390 worth of goods.

My question is this, does this mean that any item above that means duty is payable on the whole amount? Or does it also apply to multiple items that exceed £390?

Finding it confusing.

Many thanks.

Duty would be payable on the full amount.

Is for a singular item or a number of items.

Download "Travelling to the UK Notice 1" which is at the bottom of this HMRC page http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/arriving ... gnoneu.htm - see page 9.
