UK citizen travelling to Ireland with non EU wife - no visa

Post by discolev » Fri Apr 27, 2012 8:46 am

I am a UK citizen, my wife is non eu with a UK residence permit (indefinite leave to remain). I sent off an application for an Irish visa but foolishly did not provide all the documentation.
We are meant to be flying Gatwick to Shannon next Thursday for a wedding on Ryanair. Will it be enough to go armed with marriage certificate and translation, and some print offs of relevant legislation regarding rights of movement of non eu spouse to be able to gain entry.
I've picked up a few threads but can't find a definitive answer.
Thanks in anticipation.

Should be possible, but it´s the more complicated version. In short: you´re legally entitled to go, but there is a realistic chance to be refused regardless.

Scroll down to "EEA family member without Residence Card (Part 2)" in >>this<< thread.

After you (hopefully) travelled, please give feedback on how it went!

Thanks and Rgds, Christian

Thanks Christian,

I guess that there has been no sort of precedent set regarding this subject.
Its a difficult one, either we go as a family and chance our arm and, if refused, all come back with our tails between our legs, or I, at the risk of upsetting my wife, go to my cousin's wedding alone !!
