PBS Tier 1 Dependent visa

Post by sameer_info2003 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 12:16 pm

Hello,

I am planning to apply for the dependent visa for my wife.
I am here in UK since September 2009 and working as an IT contractor.

As per the discussions on the forum, I found the link http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... olicy1.pdf and here on Page no. 10 from paragraph no. 43 to 47 it has been mentioned that and additional £800 needs to be shown for the main applicant as well (in case he has been in UK for more than 12 months) .
That means showing only £533 for the dependent visa over the period of 3 months is not sufficient .

My wife has maintained £600 over the past 3 months and I have been maintaining £1400 for more than 3 months. But it was during one particular day when my funds fell down to £1300 .

My question is when my wife is going to apply for her visa will the sum of both the accounts balance be considered or only one particular account will be considered (either of mine or my wife's ) ?? (If yes, then in my case my wife never fell short of the maintenance fund. But if only one account will be considered then that 1 day will cost heavily.)

In short can the maintenance fund be held in two different accounts here , one account being of the dependent and the other being of the main applicant (who is already in UK) ???

Please help.

Regards,

Sameer

The £800 additional amount is only when you are applying together for an extension. As you have mentioned it is only a dependent visa you are applying for then the required maintenance funds is £533

It does not matter as you are applying for a dependent visa and your wife's account has £600 for the immediate 3 months period. If at all you are applying for an extension (which is not mentioned) then things would be different. I will avoid going into details for the extension scenario as it will complicate the query

As mentioned above, your wife's account should suffice

Treating this question independently, then in general terms sum of many bank accounts whether in UK + Abroad can be shown for maintenance funds. The only important point here is that the main applicant's name should appear on the account, irrelevant of that bank account being a joint account.
Please help.
