Application tracking and Transparency

Post by timesofindia » Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:10 pm

As each day passes the wait is more and more irritating...

I remember renewing my passport in India in local passport office and also even here in London (in a week).
They have a very basic site that they have developed is where you enter
Application ref no, date of birth and they give one word/one line status of where it is..

Cant UKBA build a simple system as that?? I am sure half the queries at 0870 will go away if they implement something like that..

Well probably thats expecting too much from UKBA.. !!!

They can't handle their existing IT infrastructure and "Apply online" goes down for 4-5 days on a stretch.

Guess what will happen if they publish status on website?

simple, it will be down for the whole of the year.

The answer lies with in the question itself. If they do it, their revenue will be reduced as 0870 numbers costs the caller not them. HO will never let a single penny go away like that :D

You are talking something very intelligent for HO staffs. Most of UK government IT projects are big failures and seems that HO system is no exception.

Waiting times for applications takes forever and now even getting into the country takes forever, wonder where all the money from the applications they receive goes to...
