Validity on BRP is less than 2 years as against 3 years!!

Hello All,
I have received my BRP today but the validity on my BRP stated there in is 13-01-2014 as against my COS work end date 12-01-2015.Can someone please advise whether the BRP validity is decided on the discretion of the case worker or should it align with COS end date?

As far as I am aware Tier 2 General visa is initially granted for 3 years whereas in my case BRP is only valid until 13-01-2014 which is less than 2 years only.

I have sent an email to brperror@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk to bring this discrepancy to their notice..awaiting a response from them! can someone please advise on this?

Got a response from UKBA stating that the dates on BRP is incorrect and is an error from their side.As per their advise I have posted my BRP along with a covering letter and hoping to receive a new BRP within 10 working days.
