Advantages to applying in-country?

Post by nickd722 » Mon Apr 30, 2012 5:48 am

Starting off I want to express my gratitude for forums like this. An incredibly helpful resource for those experiencing the stresses of applying for a visa.

That said I'm hoping someone can enlighten me as to what my visa options provided the below stats:

- I have a UK Master's, completed in the summer of 2010
- I've worked with a London-based company since summer of 2010. As of November 2011, my pay climbed from 25k per year to 32k per year (sterling).
- I do financial journalism, which I believe qualifies for some Tier 2 type visas.
- During that time I was employed under a Post-Study Work visa which expires in December 2012.

The problem is, I moved to the NY branch of my company as part of a promotion back in mid-March and want to return to London. However this wouldn't make sense of course if I was forced to leave again in December when my Visa expired.

Perhaps if I move back, an in-country application is not restricted to the new caps? Or perhaps there's some option I'm not aware of for people in my situation?

Greatly appreciate any advice that can be offered. In return, I can offer any wisdom on finance-related matters. :)

Warm regards,

N
