Have two appintments which one to attend

Post by kam81 » Fri May 04, 2012 2:36 pm

Hi guys,

I will be applying for Tier-1 Extensions for Myself and 2 dependents. My Visa is expiring on 7th July 2012.

I have two appointments.

1st June 2012 and 8th June 2012 in Croydon.

Can someone please advice, which one is better to attend ?

Thanks in advance.

First one.
Althout they say that by that time they intend to operate normal service, in case of some problem, you can always use backup second appointment.

Whichever you use, please make sure that you cancel the other one so that it can be returned to the required user

Thanks for your reply!

But i am bit Concerned if i attended 1st June one and got Extension on 1st June then dont you think there could be a problem on my My ILR time.

Because after booking my appointment i checked the forum and people are suggesting you should apply within 28 days of Expiry.

Can you or someone put some light on it please?

No one on the forum can tell you for sure, it all on the case worker's discretion.

As you have already read different views/experiences, I would suggest to be on safer side.

P.S. Make sure you have cancelled the other one so someone else can use it and save some money by going throug an agent.
My replies are just personel suggestions and not substitute of a professional advice

Thanks SAHIB!

But according to 5 Years ILR Rule.. I believe if you are more than 28 days short then you might need another extension.

Thats why i am bit confuse here which one to choose.

None of the above date will help with your ILR if your extension is granted from the same day for 2 years. As your qualifying period for ILR will be less than 5 years. 28 days early application only applies to those who has got full 5 year leave. For example in your case, if the case worker grant your extension till 6th July 2014 than you can apply as early as 28 days before that date. However, if she grants your visa till 1st or 8th June 2014. You would not have full 5 years visa. See to make it simple, they need you to have 5 years full visa or legal stay. They will allow you to apply early by 28 days but that doesn't mean, you can have 4 years 11 months and 2 or more days visa to fit the criteria. Got the point.

There are strong chances that you will get your extension from the expiry date. If you read this forum, you will find that most of them got it that way. So don't worry too much. And worst come worst, if you fall short by a month and few days to your ILR, don't go for another extension. Instead, apply for ILR by post. As postal application will take more than few months to get a decision and your deficit will be covered under Section 3c. Got it, be smart.
