Permanent Residency Card is lost if relationship ENDS?

Post by bekas » Sat May 12, 2012 10:52 pm

I use to be a family member (unmarried) of an EEA national I have UK permanent residency card based on EU law which I lived with my ex girlfriend for over 6 years we have ended our relationship will I lose the right of Permanent Residency?

FYI, I am UK qualified professional engineer. I have been in employment for nearly 3 years before then I was a student studies a 4 years degree course

Any advice from you is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Bekas

Guru thanks for your coment but I am confused according to the UKBA which states that :

"If you were the unmarried partner of an EEA national and the relationship has ended, you no longer have the right to live in the UK under European law".

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/eucit ... ts-family/#

any clue about that?

If one has PR, one has PR.

If one was other family member (durable partnership) before PR and that broke down, then one might not have a basis for residing in the UK.

Did you get a letter with your residence card? Did you keep it? Did you get a different letter with your permanent residence card? Do you still have it? Is there a difference?

This part would be irrelevant to any argument.

"EUsmileWEallsmile" Yes there is difference between the temporary residency and permanent residency letters that I have got. The letter I had before with temporarily residency card stated that if my relationship ends I need to inform the UKBA and I would lose the right of residency but in my PR letter there is only one line saying that they have endorsed my document onto my passport.

Comparing the actual documents there is a big difference the Temporary is quite clear that is valid only for 5 years however the PR can be renewed in 10 years.

One more thing if you believe that I will not lose my PR then I may also be eligible to apply for British Naturalisation?
