Urg advice pls:initial entry from Dublin and no entry stamp

Post by nirmal_kishore » Sun May 13, 2012 2:52 am

I am hoping I am not a unique case here. I was working in Ireland (Republic/Dublin, so not part of the UK) before I moved to the UK on the basis of a Work-permit in 2007. My port of entry was Luton Airport and similar to a number of other UK airports, travelling from Ireland means that you don't go through immigration checks. So I entered the UK but did not get my 'entry stamp' on the date of entry.
I travelled to India 4 months later and on my return I was challenged at Heathrow airport. I explained the situation and the immigration officer allowed me to enter after making some notes and verifying with colleagues etc. So my entry stamp shows a date that is 4.5 months after my actual entry into the UK. I don't know if the caseworkers (I am going for Premium) have access to the notes that immigration officers enter at border checks, but does anyone think this will be an issue??

To support the fact that I did actually enter, I am providing my e-ticket from Ryanair and also my payslips that cover this 4.5 months period (and beyond). I am trying to get Ryanair to sort of certify that I did actually check-in because an e-ticket is an e-tkt and doesn't necessarily prove that I travelled! Honestly don't have a hope in hell that Ryanair will honour my request but have to try!

I can't believe I am the only one who has entered from Ireland via an airport like Luton.

Any similar experiences out there or anyone with the knowledge of this can be addressed?

No, you're not the only one. Did you keep your airline boarding card?

Vinny
Thanks for the response. No I don't have the boarding card -- although I've been looking all over for it :(

Presume you are suggesting that just the e-tkt won't do the trick?

thanks

1. A letter from employer confirming start date in UK and attendance in UK office during the period in question.
2. Payslips.
3. A letter / communication to the effect that you opened a bank account (if you did) during the period in question.
4. Similar letter(s) confirming / indicating physical presence in UK (e.g. - GP registration).

will all help .... along with e-ticket.
