I obtained my HSMP in April 2007 and switched to Tier 1 when i did extension in 2009.
Does my wife neccessarily need to spend two years in UK to be qualified as dependant on my ILR application. She came to london in October 2010 though her visa was granted in January 2010

She has to spent two years from the date she entered UK. I am in the same boat as you are . My ILR application is next month. I am going to Solihull and will request the caseworker to look at our case if cw say no. I have booked another appointment for FLR(M).
I hope this helps.

If wife has spent less than 2 years, then yes the main applicant can apply for ILR but wife needs to get FLR(M).
I have seen generally people go for their ILR appointment in the morning and book another FLR(M) appointment for their spouse in afternoon.

Someon mentioned arrival date in the UK should not be included hence i want to find out whether she can apply on
2/10/12 or
3/10/12 or
4/10/12
Also, Is it
2 years + 1 day or
2 years precisely

If you are born on the 01-Jan, will you be 2 years old on 31-Dec or 01-Jan or 02-Jan or 03-Jan?
You shouldn't need someone else to answer such a question. I feel embarrassed in writing a response.

sushdmehta - Thank you for the prompt reply.
I'm really sorry for the embarrassing question but i just want to be sure of when to apply because i once noticed on the forum that arrival date is not included in calculating qualifying period.
Sorry once again

Tunay: Firstly you are confusing the ‘absences’ rule with the first arrival of your wife.
Days of arrival and departures are not counted if you are talking about absences from UK after coming to UK in the first place.
Secondly I told you that your wife’s trip to France has nothing to do with her eligibility for ILR.
