Queries regarding application for 1st adult British passport

Post by frulhaque » Fri May 18, 2012 8:23 pm

Hi,
I would like to ask two questions regarding the pseudo labrynthine passport application form:

1. Regarding Section 3 (Have you had or been included on any sort of passport before?) - I am going to submit my current passsport (hereafter referred to as P3). However the passport I entered the UK with is two passports previous to this (hereafter referred to as P1). The immediate previous passport to my current passport also has multiple exits and reentries to the UK (hereafter referred to as P2).

The question is would I be correct in including P1 and P2 because the form guide mentions that any passports which are sent should be current or no longer valid but not replaced? Obviously P1 and P2 are well out of date as they both date to periods when I was still attending school and university and have been replaced as the numbering succession implies.

2. Regarding supporting documents - I presume I do not have to meet the documentary requirements for If you were born outside the UK before 1 January 1983 as I would be covered by If you are a British national after getting a Home Office certicate of registration or naturalisation pursuant to question 1?

While I cannot deny that the guide and form are written in plain English worthy of the Plain English Campaign Crystal Mark the guide would be somewhat improved with the use of flowcharts instead of blocks of text.

Thanks for your input.

In the past there were different passport application forms depending on the circumstances. This led to people using the wrong form so they decided it is better to have one form but now the form is a bit messy.

Check Q1 & Q4 Citizenship FAQ - Common Questions - Passport.

1. P1 & P3.
2. Correct.
