USA VISA...HELP!!!

Post by Irish girl 2012 » Sat May 19, 2012 12:14 am

I was just wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to go about getting a work visa for US from IRELAND

I am looking for a working holiday visa but there doesnt seem to be such a thing for the US. Like id rather be able to find work when i get over there, but you seem to have to have a job offer or sponser before you can even get a visa. I dont qualify for the student J1 as I finished college just over 12 months ago. I have a Level 6 Advanced Certificate on the Irish Framework of Qualifications, and im 21 y/o. and have about 3-4 years work experience . I am really at a loss and its just bugging me that there doesnt seem to be any other way other than to get a sponser. I heard it can take months and months to get the visa sorted from a sponser thats why I was kinda hoping for just a Working holiday visa.

any help or advise would be great.
Thanks.

Hi there..

It Might help ..
The job you planning to take in the USA must be directly related to your field of study. If you have a Degree/college qualification, you must have at least 1 years work experience in the same industry Or If you have no Degree/college qualification, you must have at least 5 years work experience.

If you are not a recent graduate you may be eligible for USA Career Training Visa ,The 12 month programme for recent graduates is different to this. That one is usually called the "intern" programme, and this (potentially) longer one, the "trainee" progamme.

The US government has in place a two step application process for this scheme. Applicants must first apply to an authorised sponsoring organisation to be issued with a form DS-2019, and once that document has been issued they should apply to the US Embassy for the relevant visa.

check this out ..
http://www.interexchange.org/career-tra ... ions#Visas & Documentation

Some sponsoring organisations are specifically focusing on the Irish scheme, such as the Boston Irish Immigrant Centre - www.iicenter.org and USIT - www.usit.ie ,I think also go4less http://www.go4less.ie and http://www.go4less.ie/usa-work-visa/car ... g-visa.asp (talk to Claire..i heard she's quite helpful .. 01 4350000 or email claire@go4less.ie)

also You should put your resume up on monster.com(North America one) & dice.com, at least have it available for employers to find . Have a look through craigslist.org also, send a few emails in the area you hope to go to & see what you can find. Also, have a look for recruiters in the US, especially the city you're going to. They can help a lot for temporary work.

Regards,
Hancy
