extending my wifes visa

Post by islamhady » Sat May 19, 2012 7:22 pm

Hi There

In September I am going to apply for my wife's settlement visa to be extended as she needs to complete 2 years here before she can apply for ILR. For the extension is there a course or exam she must do before or certificate she must obtain before applying for extension.

I know about the certificate she must have before applying for ILR but is there something else she needs to have to apply for extension?

Id appreciate it if someone can answer my question.

thanks

If you are referring to FLR(M), there is a requirement to have passed A1 level English. All of this information can be found on the relevant pages of the UKBA website.

According to a previous post, you were planning to marry in 2011 and intended to bring your wife to the UK after the wedding. How can she need to apply for an extension in September?

I was asking on behalf of my cousin.

This is why moderators ask members only to post their own queries to avoid confusion...or at least state that they are asking on someone's behalf.

Quick question my wife's passport expires in November. Can I get an extension on the current passport and then when I get a new one can I transfer the visa to the new Passport? Or do I have apply on the new passport straight away?

No need to transfer.

Thanks for getting back to me. I understand that I dont have to transfer. But in september I have to apply for a 2 year extension but the passport expires in November this year, I thought the passport had to be valid for the length of the Visa. or am I wrong?

Appreciate if you can clarify this to me.

Thanks

re: wifes esxtension visa

Post by islamhady » Tue Jul 10, 2012 11:59 am

Hi

I am about to apply for an extension to my wife's settlement visa, and i've noticed that there is this new financial requirements set from 9th July 2012. But ive been told it does not concern my wife as she has been in the UK before that date, I just wanted to confirm that is true or not.

Also I am currently in full time employment but I do recieve Housing benefit and child and tax credit, will that affect my wife's application? As it says on the website that i must not take any public resource.

Your reply will be much appreciated

thanks
